- BOOKLET is designed to create PC Booklet sized documents from
- full page text files on Laser Printers which emulate the Hewlett-
- Packard LaserJet series. It prints four pages of the text file on one
- sheet of paper. The pages are printed "two thirds size" on the right
- and left halves of both sides of a sheet of paper turned sideways
- (Landscape orientation.) It supports all the standard sizes of paper
- (A4, LETTER, LEGAL, and EXECUTIVE)
-
- BOOKLET will perform transformation on basic LaserJet formatting
- commands. This means that you can use your word processor to print a
- formatted document to a file and use BOOKLET to print that file in
- booklet form. For this to be successful, you must have fonts loaded
- in your printer for the sizes BOOKLET will use. These can be from a
- font cartridge or may be soft fonts which you have loaded ahead of
- running BOOKLET. BOOKLET does not create or load any fonts. You will
- need fonts which are approximately two thirds the point size of the
- fonts you use in your document.
-
- The BOOKLET Document has been formatted for LaserJet printers so
- it is not easy to read on a computer screen. You may need to supply
- one or more parameters to BOOKLET. The size of paper you are using is
- required if it is not LETTER. This will be either /S:A4 for the
- European standard paper or /S:LETTER for US 8.5x11 inch paper.
-
- A second parameter is needed if you are using the Multi-Purpose
- tray on an HP LaserJet IIP or LaserJet IIIP and your output is going
- to the normal stacker tray. This parameter, /K:MP causes the order of
- printing to accommodate the way these printers take paper from the MP
- tray. Your command line would look as follows:
-
- BOOKLET /S:LETTER /K:MP
-
- If you are using the front output tray, use the /K:DJ parameter in
- place of the /K:MP parameter.
-
- For the HP DeskJet series you will need to add two parameters.
- Add /K:DJ /AS:9,1.5 to cause the printing order to match the way the
- DeskJets feed paper and to tell BOOKLET about the extra unprintable
- margin these printers have. Your command line would look as follows:
-
- BOOKLET /S:LETTER /K:DJ /AS:9,1.5
-
- If you have a printer other than the above which stacks its
- output with the printing up you will need /K:INVERTED as a second
- parameter. Your command line would look as follows:
-
- BOOKLET /S:LETTER /K:INVERTED
-
- When you are prompted to load the pages for the second side,
- place the pages face down (as they came out of the printer) in the
- source paper tray. (Unless you are using the Multi-purpose tray. In
- that case, the pages should be face up.)
-
- BOOKLET is distributed as shareware.
-
- Shareware is commercial software distributed in an unconventional
- manner. Shareware isn't free. If you use it regularly, the authors
- expect compensation. Shareware allows you to evaluate the product
- before you purchase it. If you use this product, you are obliged to
- register it.
-
- Copies of BOOKLET may be freely distributed in its
- self-extracting form (BOOKLT.EXE.) No fee, charge or other
- compensation may be accepted for the distribution of BOOKLET. Except,
- Public Domain Disk Vendors and BBS(s) may charge a nominal fee for
- distribution of the program. Such charges must clearly be labelled
- distribution charges and the recipient of BOOKLET must be informed
- that the distribution fee does not relieve the payment of the
- registration fee for BOOKLET.
-
- The BOOKLET files consist of:
-
- BOOKLET.EXE The BOOKLET program
- BOOKLET.PCL The BOOKLET document
- REGISTER.FRM The BOOKLET registration form
- README.1ST The file you are now reading
- FILE_ID.DIZ A Bulletin Board Description of BOOKLET

- Shareware Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the
- shareware principle works for you. If you are unable to resolve a
- shareware-related problem with an ASP member by contacting the member
- directly, ASP may be able to help. The ASP Ombudsman can help you
- resolve a dispute or problem with an ASP member, but does not provide
- technical support for members' products. Please write to the ASP
- Ombudsman at 545 Grover Road, Muskegon, MI 49442-9427 or send a
- Compuserve message via CompuServe Mail to ASP Ombudsman 70007,3536.
